With the understanding that therapy can feel intimidating, Shelby's goal is to create a safe, supportive, and warm space for her clients to feel comfortable to share on their own terms. She believes that clients are the experts of their own lives, and will strive to create a trusting therapeutic relationship that effectively moves the client toward their goals. Shelby approaches therapy with a strengths-based mindset and the belief that each individual is unique and as such, requires their own tailored approach.

She also holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Shelby has been working as a social worker for the last 10 years working primarily with adolescents and young adults with complex trauma backgrounds. Additionally, in Shelby’s aim to provide culturally competent care she has received training in psychological safety with a focus on Anti-Black Racism, as well as training in working with LGBTQIA+ identified people. All therapeutic modalities are evidenced based and will be integrated in sessions as appropriate.

Shelby also uses a person in the environment theoretical approach to meet clients where they are in life. as her goal is always to provide a culturally competent, inclusive environment for clients. Shelby enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families.
